Hephaestus was known as being the God of fire, Stone masonry, Metal working, forges and the art of sculpture. Unlike other Gods, he was seen as the only ugly God instead of being perfect and beautiful like the rest. Most of the time Zeus and Hera were considered to be his parents. However they cast him out when they realised he was born deformed and "imperfect" in their eyes.

He was responsible for making many if not all the weapons for Olympus. Some include 'The Aegis' which was a shield device carried by Athena and Zeus. The arrows of Eros (also known as Cupid) were also fashioned by Hephaestus. Hephaestus was also responsible for crafting Pandora's Box, as well as making Pandora herself. Pandora saw and loved him like she would a father. Speaking of being a father, Hephaestus did have a son called Erichthonius who was a half man and half serpent.

Hephaestus had a workshop which was located under a volcano, his work did cause a lot of eruptions. In his workshop he had assistants who were made out of solid gold.
