In some video games there are character creators. They can range from being very detailed to having very little choice with pre-made characters for the player to choose from. Games that usually have character creators usually have the characters you have created be silent, this is often done with the protagonist since it wants to make it feel like you are in the world of the game. They usually have no personality so that you can imagine them how you want to or pretend it is you. If a custom character talks then the game usually gives you options on what to say, dialogue options are in other games however that don't feature character creators.

Ark Survival Evolved
Ark Survival Evolved features a very detailed character creator. The player gets a very diverse choice of how they want their character to look. While the base characters are cavepeople, you can still change how these cavepeople look drastically. The models themselves are very realistic however with all the freedom and options you get in this character creator this can allow some weird and unrealistic body proportions. This character creator allows players to change the skin colour with multiple options instead of just black and white. The game allows you to change the height, size, width and depth of every single limb from legs, arms, hands, feet and the neck. as well as the body itself which you can make wider or deeper.

Mii
In 2006, Nintendo decided to make their own character creator alongside the release of their new console the 'Wii'. The creator was designed to be used in other Nintendo games such as Wii Sports, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, and even games that revolve around Miis like Miitopia and Tomodachi Life. The Miis are very basic created characters, they don't have much detail and mostly just have basic options on how they look. This was most likely so they could put the Miis in lots of games since if they were high poly models with a realistic style then they wouldn't fit in most games like Mario Kart, it would have looked unnatural to see a realistic person driving alongside the colourful and cartoony cast of the Mario games. The character creator itself has very little options compared to most creators. In older versions there would only be 6 selectable skin colours while there is 10 in the newest version on the Nintendo Switch which is still not enough, it doesn't feel as diverse as other creators. There are no options for people who are disabled either which is understandable in some ways since these characters are in multiple games where they can be driving, fighting and playing sports so someone in a wheel chair would probably have trouble with these activities. However they could have added amputee options which could just replace a limb of choice.

Xbox Avatar Editor
The Xbox also has a character creator which could have originally been seen to compete with Nintendo's Miis. However, Microsoft recently made a new creator with way more customizability than the Miis. These characters aren't used in games like the Miis however so this is probably why they have more detail and customizable parts. You can edit your body type and height so you can be more precise about how you want your body to look. Skin colour is very diverse since you are able to be any colour. You get to choose from two wheels, one being basic colours which are colours that are realistic skin colours and custom which is any colour like green, blue, pink. Something that not many character creators have done is have accessories for disabled people like amputees and wheelchairs. This is a very diverse character creator.
