The basics of Adobe Photoshop.

In the bottom right are the layers, channels and paths. You start with a single background but can add layers on top of it. The eye symbol can hide a layer so you can see everything else without having to delete the layer itself. The arrows next to the layers 3-5 are clipping mask for the one below it, these allow the brush to only paint in the layer below it.

To add a new layer click the note symbol which I have labelled with some yellow stars above it. you can find this under all the layers and background.

On the right is all of the tools you need to use. The main tools I use are the brush, eraser and the eyedropper.

The eyedropper is a tool that copies colours. if you see a colour in an image that you want to use the eyedropper can get it for you by clicking on the colour with the tool selected. The command for this is "i" on the keyboard.

The brush is the tool you will use the most since it is what you use to actually paint. it works a normal drawing tool on any software. You can select different brushes in brush settings.

The eraser is the opposite of the brush and will get rid of any mistakes you make. Instead of drawing when you click on it, it will remove your drawing wherever the cursor is.
