In this blog about animation tracking, i have learnt to animate an object and have it come to life in the palm of my hand. To start i need to record a video, i recorded my hand lowering into frame and moving around and then a slight twist towards the camera. I filmed the video on my phone and uploaded it to my laptop to export it into Blender. I then modelled a thorn like object and duplicated it so i can have it look as though it has gone through my hand. After i animated the thorns to be in the place i wanted them to be, i had to create a mask so the object could look as though it moves behind my hand. To create a mask you firstly must set the window to 'Movie Clip Editor' by clicking on the box in the top left under the Blender Logo. Once a mask has been created you can started marking points around what you are making a mask onto, for me it was around my hand. This isn't all you have to do though, you will have to animate each point so it moves along with you hand so the mask isn't staying in one place.

The area that you mask has been created onto will be the area that the mesh will hide behind, in my case the parts of the thorns hide behind my hand in the video.
